    • Darn, I can’t keep anything from you, Dect. Jess. I think you’ve unveiled the reason why this is a galette and not a pie. The simple fact that even when your pastry is a mess, a galette will fix it all up for you. It’s the rustic charm! ๐Ÿ˜†

      Thanks for stopping by Jess.

  1. I love apple and blackberry, but only in season so we tend to eat lots of crumbles, pies and these in Autumn when we get crops off the farm/hedges.

I never knew they were called galettes though!

    • That’s the great thing about the supermarkets here, you can still fresh produce even when it is out of season. Gotta’ love that. I’m even thinking about having some strawberry, raspberry and blackberry bushes in my garden!

A galette is basically the same as a tart – a sweet shortcrust pastry base with the fruit layered on the top. They’re so much easier and quicker to make, yet have that fancy yet rustic look when baked.

      Thanks for stopping by, Emma.

    • Aww, thank you Liska. I saw your Capri-Sun shop. I would have applied for that one too, but I didn’t see it.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • I’d love to make one for you Kim, and yup, c’mon over and be my bodyguard. We’ll smash through them all together! ๐Ÿ™‚

The shop is just one of our supermarkets here in the UK. I did a sponsored shop with them. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Hi Lisa! Stopping by from Show Stopper Saturday, and noticed your gorgeous galette! I must make this sometime soon, preferably to enjoy with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top! ๐Ÿ˜‰ PS – photos are gorgeous. Keep up the fantastic work. I look forward to stopping by again soon. ~Erin

    • Aww, thank you so much, Erin. I just stopped by your site and could say the same thing about your desserts too. Sounds perfect with a big ol’ scoop of ice cream too. Think I’ll have to go make another just for that.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I looooooove this combination and I am actually also thinking of baking with blackberries veeery soon ๐Ÿ˜€ They are just delicious and season is always way too short… ๐Ÿ™
    love, rebecca

    • Me too Rebecca, me too. I can’t get enough of this combo. Not sure if it’s a Brit thing though. ๐Ÿ˜† Can’t wait to see what you come up with, I’m sure it’ll be amazing as usual anyway. Oddly the seasons tend to be too short (yet when it’s the rainy seasons, they dragggg!)

I managed to pick up one of those tart tins I was looking for locally too – yay! Thanks for stopping by, Rebecca.

    • Thanks Zainab. If my WordPress trackbacks were working (damn them), you would have known it was your recipe I used and adapted.

It was absolutely and utterly gorgeous too. Think I’ll be making a different variety again since it was that good! ๐Ÿ™‚
