These Cherry Coca-Cola Jelly (Jello) cubes are quick, fun and are ideal for a picnic, the match, or simply as an unexpected treat. Your kids will love these, and they can be made with any type of soda.
Are you watching the FIFA World Cup? I’m not a football fan myself, but having the big game on seems to make us Brits suddenly patriotic once every four years! 😆
I’m sure by know you know my lifelong addiction and fetish affair with cherry coke. It’s just sooooo good. There’s not a day that goes by where you won’t find me with an ice cold glass of coke. It’s just one of my many quirks. I just can’t get enough!
That’s why when I found Ashton’s recipe for Cherry Coke Jello, I almost jumped for joy. I mean, another reason to eat Coke? Definitely something I can get on board with. *happy dance*
However, there was just one mahoosive problem, there’s no cherry flavoured jelly here in the UK! 🙁 Was that going to stop me… pfffttt!
I decided to try using unflavoured gelatine, and after one unsuccessful attempt where I added a little too much gelatine (dude, that stuff isn’t really that ‘unflavoured’), I realised I needed to add a little sugar too despite the fact that Coca-Cola is laden with it.
And wiith the football frenzy, and Coca-Cola sponsoring the big game, there’s no better excuse than to treat yourself with some awesome tasting jelly treats. They’re perfect to take to ‘the’ a more local match too.
Also, have you seen the new streamlined Coke bottles in the shops now? They’re the same as the retro glass bottles, but in plastic form. Love!
I was impressed to see that TESCO were offering a promotional Brazil 2014 World Cup 4 pack of regular Coca-Cola, and on offer too. Only £1 per bottle? SCORREEEE!!!! (pun intended!) :p
I just had to run back to the kitchen for my second attempt at the coke jellies, and they were a complete success. They’re ridiculously easy to make and taste just like cherry coke, yet in beautiful glass-like wobbly and fun cubes. My kids absolutely adored them.
Umm, TESCO, I think you need to wipe your shelves down. Gross! #justsaying

Cherry Coke Jelly (Jello) Jigglers
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 9-inch pan
These Cherry Coca-Cola Jelly (Jello) cubes are quick, fun and are ideal for a picnic, or simply as an unexpected treat. Your kids will love these, and they can be made with any type of soda.
Ingredients:
- 480ml (2 cups) cherry coke
- 28g (4x 7g envelopes) unflavoured gelatine
- 4 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cola extract, optional
- ½ tsp cherry extract, optional
Directions:
- Line a 9-inch baking pan with 2 layers of foil, leaving an 1-inch overhang (for ease of removing). Measure the coca-cola into a large jug.
- Put the unflavoured gelatine in a mug with the sugar and pour around ½ cup of coca-cola onto the gelatine/sugar mixture. Stir with a spoon and heat in the microwave for 30-second burst stirring after each burst until both the sugar and gelatine have completely dissolved.
- Pour the gelatine mixture into the jug with the coca-cola and stir. It will froth quite a bit.
- (Optional) Add the cola and cherry extracts and taste test to see if you’d like to add a little more. I found the mixture to taste a little bland without, oddly. I’d definitely recommend adding them.
- Pour into the prepared pan. Allow to cool, then transfer to the fridge to set completely.
- Once set, gently remove the jelly by lifting the foil overhang, gently easing with your fingers and place on a flat work surface. Use a large knife to cut into cubes.
- If not serving immediately, store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes:
You can substitute the coke for any flavoured soda of your choice. Or, mix it up and mix two different sodas together. Lilt (tropical) and Fanta? (Orange or Lime) 🙂
This is something really interesting! Must try recipe 🙂
They are certainly interesting. Thanks Medeja. 🙂
That looks absolutely delicious! I am totally in a jello mood now 🙂
Happy Blogging!
Happy Valley Chow
Thanks Eric. I only tried one square before the kids got to it, and now it’s all gone.
Thanks for stopping by.
genius idea, my kids would love these – and those cupcakes look amazing too!
My kids did too, Helen. That meant there was none for poor old Mummy.
Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I love me some cherry coke. Every time we see a movie at the theater, I buy myself an extra-large cherry coke and suck it down. It’s so good. Love these creative jellies. Pinned.
Oh gosh, you get cherry coke at the cinemas? I’m uber jealous! It’s been here for a long time now, but not in any of our theatres, and some of them just have that awful stuff otherwise known as Pepsi. *gag*
Thanks for stopping by Jenny, and thanks for the pin too. 🙂
They look super cute, although I have to admit I am not a huge cola fan myself 😛
enjoy the world cup!
Oh goodness, how could you not love that sweet delicious cherry awesomeness that is cherry coke? Then again, you can just sub it out with your favourite drink instead… edible heaven. 🙂
England are out of the World Cup already too. Useless! Ah well.
Thanks for stopping by.
Oh, I too love a good glass of icy cold coke! I bet ginger ale (my favourite soda) would be great too 🙂
Ginger ale jello. Now that’s an idea! :p
Thanks Erika.
I never would’ve thought to make coca cola jello but now that I’ve seen it I MUST HAVE IT!! It would be a perfect snack during the summer for sure (especially as it gets even hotter out over here!)
At least it won’t melt in this heat, unlike me. I want to spread cold coke jello all over me. Darn humidity is awful here. Is it humid over your side of the pond, too?
Thanks Jess.
My coke and jello loving daughter would love this!!! What a fun idea for the World Cup!!!
My kids too, Liz. I only had the chance to devour one measly cube of this jello before it ‘mysteriously’ disappeared into the void that is my 3 children!
Thanks for stopping by.
Cherry coke jello and cherry coke cupcakes, wow! These look delicious, can’t wait to make them.
Thanks Paula. If you make them, do let me know how they turn out and if you like them. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
Wow! That is so creative. I never would have though to use coke in jello! Love it! #client
Thanks Ali. I’m glad you like it. It can be made with any type of soda too, but it’s just that I’m such a die hard fan of Coke, it just wouldn’t be the same [for me] with anything else. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Have a sweet day.
Your food looks so good
Aww, thank you so much Sherri. Your comment put a big smile on my face.
Thanks for stopping by.
That sounds delicious! My daughter and her husband just adore Cherry Coke and it’s not always easy to find around here. So when we do find it, we hoard it! LOL They would love this recipe. Pinning it for them! #client
You’re not the only one, Cyn. I hoard it simply because we (meaning just my partner and I, lol) drink gallons of it! I can even get regular coke in 6x 3 litre bottles at the wholesaler. Just keeping finding myself ending back up at the supermarket to get the cherry version though, yum yum.
You can make an easier version over in the states by using cherry jello and regular coke though. We don’t have the cherry jello here, boohoo.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment. Have a sweet day.
This jello looks so good! I bet your kids loved it! 🙂
Good morning, can I freeze this jelly cola?
I would not recommend freezing this. I did a quick Google search and it appears that jelly really does not thaw well after freezing.
You can make it a few days in advance and store in the fridge though. I hope this helps.
