These Chocolate Funfetti Cake Batter Krispie Treats are perfect if you’re in the mood for crunchy chocolate with a cake batter flavour twist. Made using Coco Pops (Cocoa Krispies in the US), this recipe replicates the flavour of cake batter without the need for cake mix.
I’m having this love affair with cake batter at the minute. It’s no secret that I love that flavour. I became a little intrigued by Funfetti cake mixes a few months back. We don’t get anything ‘Funfetti’ in the UK so I decided to not only see what it was like, but to attempt to replicate the flavour of cake batter without the need for cake box mixes.
I may be completely wrong here, but all the Funfetti cake batters, whether that’s cookies, fudge, ice cream, and so on never include chocolate. I felt the need for that cake batter taste again last night but I wanted chocolate too.
What was a girl to do? So I married them both together and created some chocolate funfetti cake batter rice krispie treats and man, are they goooood!
Instead of using actual Rice Krispies for the chocolate flavour, I decided to use Coco Pops (Cocoa Krispies) instead. And for the cake batter flavours, all that’s needed is some vanilla and almond extracts.
The melted marshmallow aroma was so amazing. It also took on some of the chocolate from the coco pops too. Yummo!
These chocolate cake batter krispie treats are so quick and easy to make and taste amazing. They certainly hit the spot with me. Family visited too and helped themselves. They’ve already put in their next order for some.
I even weighed out my ingredients and converted cups to grams so everyone can get in on the action too. π
Enjoy!

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 13x9-inch pan
These Chocolate Funfetti Cake Batter Krispie Treats are perfect if you're in the mood for crunchy chocolate with a cake batter flavour twist. Made using Coco Pops (Cocoa Krispies in the US), this recipe replicates the flavour of cake batter without the need for any cake mixes.
Ingredients:
- 45g (3 tbsp) unsalted butter
- 10oz marshmallows
- 390g (6 cups) coco pops (cocoa krispies) cereal
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 85g (½ cup) rainbow jimmie sprinkles
- 2 tbsp rainbow nonpareils sprinkles (or jimmie sprinkles)
Directions:
- Grease or spray a 13×9 inch pan with non stick spray.
- In a large sauce pan, melt butter over a low heat. Once melted, add marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted. Remove from heat and add the vanilla and almond extracts then immediately add the coco pops (cocoa krispies). Stir until well coated.
- Mix in the sprinkles and evenly press the mixture into the pan either using a greased spatula or parchment paper. Evenly sprinkle the remaining 2 tbsp rainbow sprinkles on the surface pressing into the mixture slightly to adhere.
- Allow to cool then cut into 2″ squares.

So pretty!
Thanks Hani.
Funfetti makes everything better:) Your photos are fantastic!
You’re so right, Sue. It definitely does. Sprinkle magic cures everything! π
Eeeek. Funfetti krispies? Seriously? AWESOME. I love krispies so very much–and I like mine extra extra gooey π yours look insanely chocolatey and delicious, Lisa!
I know, right?! I’ve never tried Rice Krispie treats until now. It was another one of those US things that finally made its way here. They now sell them in the stores but forget that when you can add your own flavours! I loved using the chocolate krispies too, yum.
Hi Lisa!! I think you made these rice krispie treats just for me. π I love cake batter anything. All of those sprinkles – they are calling my name. I now have a huge craving for a bowl of rainbow sprinkles π
I think you’re just as sprinkle happy as me, Sally! But a bowl of sprinkles? Replacement for cereal? Oh gosh, you’re giving me ideas now. I might as well have a bowl of sugar [and trust me, that’d go down well too!]
I just had to have the chocolate in the cake batter too. Pesky cravings do work out great sometimes. π
Yum! These look so good. I’ve never used almond extract in my krispy treats before. I love the colorful sprinkles!
Me neither! But a while back i found out that you can replicate the flavour of cake batter without the need for box cake mix by using a little almond and vanilla extract. I’m not anti-box mixes, just that I prefer to make from scratch and this was a great no box mix alternative. π And sprinkles make the world a better place. π
These looks awesome – Chocolate, Sprinkles & cocoa pops. Doesn’t get much better than that really π
Thanks so much Tash. You can’t go wrong with cake batter flavour, but chocolate and cake batter = win win!
These are the most gorgeous Rice Krispie treats I’ve ever seen! Pinning π
Aww thank you Nicky. Thanks for pinning too. Mucho appreciated. π

Definitely something I need to try
Thanks so much Winnie. If you give them a try, let me know how they turn out. π
Yum, these look so delicious! I just made some rice krispie treats and dipped them in pink candy melts and sprinkles. I think sprinkles make everything so fun! I’ll have to try your version soon!
Ooo, those sound delicious too. I might have to try those next, they sound yummy.
I love funfetti! I can’t believe you have to miss out on this in the UK. These are getting pinned for sure!
Oh that’s just the start of it. You get a whole boatload of confectionary there that we don’t get here too. The green monster comes out a lot when I see what you guys create. LOL.
But thanks so much Janine. Glad you like them and thanks for pinning.
So fun and so tasty!
Thanks so much, Kayle.
Such fun adorable and addictive treats π
