Mother’s Day Cupcake Bouquet

Mother's Day Pink Rose Cupcake Bouquet

Mother’s Day – Pink Buttercream Frosting Cupcake Bouquet

Us Brits are weird and I have proof. We have our Mother’s Day on a different day of the year to our US counterparts. I guess we like to feel special and different. 😆 And we didn’t join the Euro neither. Apparently, we like our pounds just too much to change.

So, without further ado, Happy Mother’s Day 2012 to our UK peeps. Our US and rest of the world peeps can join in the fun too and have 2 Mother’s day, yay! I know I’m going to attempt to get my 2nd Mother’s Day on the 13th May with the rest of the world, hehe.

I decided to make my Mum a little a little something, something. I really didn’t have the time today though so this is a rushed job and you can tell sadly. I had to be at my Mums for 7pm and had only just finished piping at 7pm. Oh so rushed. Anyway, I decided to make my bouquet out of a small spotty planter which was new, obviously. (eww, reused planters?) I decided to make vanilla cupcakes as my dad would have one, or two, and he’s allergic to chocolate (blasphemy!) It gives him migraines. I thought I’d go for an elegant rose piped pink buttercream frosting. Unfortunately, since it’s rushed, it’s not that elegant. Le sigh.

I topped the buttercream frosting off with pink edible glitter. It looked amazingly beautiful in real life but the camera just doesn’t pick up all the sparkles. I placed a grosgrain baby pink ribbon around the planter too.

All in all, I’m not that happy with it in all honestly. It’s my first time making a cupcake bouquet. I’d have liked to have put more cupcakes on the top but I didn’t have any styrofoam balls or florists foam so I had to impro it and there wasn’t anything where I could actually attach more without them all falling off. I didn’t have any cellophane bags too. Oh, and did I mention it was rushed? Lesson learnt. My mum was impressed so I guess I shouldn’t be my own worst critic! Better next time, I promise.

I used a standard Vanilla Cupcake Recipe and Standard Vanilla Buttercream Frosting. Links are there for you to checkout if you want to make. With the exception that I substituted the milk and vanilla extract for Rose water in the buttercream to make a rose water frosting.

Did I mention that I’ve had to do the dishwasher and 2 loads of laundry today. On Mother’s Day? I’ll be crying myself to sleep tonight (I’m joking, seriously!)
