  • 115g (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 250g (1 ¼ cups) light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 80ml (⅓ cup) pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 250g (2 cups) plain/all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90g (½ cup) white chocolate chips (optional)


    1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
    2. In a mixing bowl, beat the melted butter and light brown sugar until well combined.
    3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the pure maple syrup and vanilla extract.
    4. In a separate bowl, sift or whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
    5. (Optional:) If desired, fold in the white chocolate chips.
